Always Holidays

In a household with five children, everyday life — the rhythm of cooking, dining, and doing homework — becomes the true centre of the home. These daily routines were envisioned not as obligations, but as moments infused with lightness, ease, and a sense of joy.

This vision led to the transformation of a house in a suburb of Frankfurt, where the aim was to create an atmosphere reminiscent of holidays in the South of France — relaxed, sunlit, and effortlessly vibrant.

Due to a previous extension, the spatial sequence had become overly elongated, resulting in a compressed perception of height. As in many of our projects, this called for a fundamental reorganisation of the layout — ultimately leading to a complete transformation.

By reorienting the main axis across the width of the house, rather than its depth, a new spatial clarity emerged. This was achieved through the selective removal of walls, the strategic use of flooring, and the precise placement of furnishings, allowing the spaces to unfold more naturally and generously.

Once again, the outcome demonstrates that such spatial qualities can only be achieved through a holistic approach — where materiality, proportion, furniture, and lighting are conceived as one cohesive system, shaping an atmosphere that is not only functional, but deeply felt.
