Our clients envisioned a home that combined contemporary architecture with the timeless charm of a barn-inspired exterior, while the interiors would reflect the refined elegance of a Parisian apartment. To bring this vision to life, we created a harmonious balance between serenity and vibrant family living, drawing inspiration from the breathtaking mountain landscape that surrounds the property. Working closely with local craftsmen and utilizing materials such as exposed concrete, charred timber, smoked oak, and bronzed steel, we developed a cohesive design language in which architecture, interior detailing, and furnishings seamlessly complement one another.

Two elements were particularly important to us. The first was the staircase, with its distinctive and characterful balustrade. Curved in the main house and linear in the adjoining building, it serves as a striking link between different eras and design styles, ultimately becoming one of the defining features of the home.

The second was the rich grain and nuanced coloration of the smoked oak, which is used extensively throughout the interior to form walls, doors, and bespoke furniture fronts. Neither of these design ambitions was easy to achieve. Looking back, however, they reaffirmed our belief that persistence and an uncompromising attention to detail are essential when striving to realize truly exceptional spaces.
