The feeling of an Australian summer house was to be brought into a penthouse with a waterfront location in an urban setting. What a wonderful task!

 

The textures and colors of the materials were at the forefront of all considerations, and it quickly became clear that wood as a material would also play an important role on the walls. The layout was redesigned to create a natural zoning of functional areas within the open concept. This resulted in both expansive spatial perspectives and exceptionally cozy retreats.

 

A key element in the solution were the shutters in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. The sunlight filters through them, creating a captivating play of shadows that instantly evokes a holiday atmosphere. At the same time, they provide privacy, protect against prying eyes, and allow for individualized control of the views of the surrounding buildings.
